Readers have included Willam Belli, Rachel Kramer Bussel, Maxim Jakubowski, Stan Kent, Shana Ting Lipton, Jenny Block, Regina Lynn, Rob Roberge, Eugene S. Robinson, Marty Barrett, Seth Greenland, Nina Hartley, Jeff Miller, Colleen Wainwright, Adam Grayson, Joanna Angel, Ernest Greene, Maggie Marr and BatSheva Vaknin. We've also been written up in Metroblogging L.A., LAist, Thrillist, Fishbowl L.A., Blue Blood and others.

The First In The Flesh Went Off Without A Hitch!

It’s been a week since the debut of In The Flesh: L.A. and I’ve been meaning to do a recap, but my schedule has been keeping me away from the computer (and I’ve yet to decide if that’s fortunate or unfortunate!) But I’m really happy with how it all went off. All the readers were fantastic, and we had a good-sized crowd for the first night at Freddy and Eddy’s – many of whom bought some goodies to go home with. Around 35 people showed up, and nearly all the cupcakes were gone by the evening’s end. Schmerty’s was a big hit!

Willam started us off with his story of toe rape, proving to be an incredibly hard act to follow… but Rachel did so beautifully, sharing a story about how she survived a layover in an Atlanta airport by getting hot and heavy with a fellow traveler. Maxim told us how music played a part in his book’s romantic encounters, and Stan read an awesome piece about a woman who was able to experience other people’s sexual encounters by wearing their shoes… except this time she wanted to have her own experience. And last but certainly not least, Shana told us about lovers that she’d experienced in Amsterdam, detailing them physically and emotionally. It was the perfect ending to the evening.

Also, I´m going to start keeping a running tab of how much money we´ve raised for RAINN. The first event brought in $81. Thanks to those of you who donated!

The next In The Flesh is set for Thursday, June 26th and has a stellar line-up, whose bios I’ll be posting at some point next week. So stay tuned, and we hope to see you there! If you have any questions, feel free to e-mail inthefleshreadingseriesla at gmail dot com.
