September’s Adolescence Stories Were Hot, Bothered... and Funny!

I was super excited about this edition of In The Flesh, not just because of the theme (which I assumed would bring hilarity), but the reader line-up was awesome. This time out we had authors and writers from all different walks of life, and the result was fantastic.

Naturally, nobody could keep their hands off Schmerty’s Cupcakes:

Janelle followed up by reading an excerpt from her latest book, detailing one character’s start of a downward spiral via a potential sexual encounter:

After a short break for coffee refueling, cupcake munching and raffle ticket handouts, Meredith brought us back with the comical tale of how she and her high school boyfriend found themselves naked, locked in her parent’s bathroom, and had to flag down the neighbor to break them out:


Reading sexy excerpts from Judy Blume’s more notorious literary offerings, Jen nearly brought down the house when she read the part where Michael named his penis in “Forever”:

And last but certainly not least, Donna finished us off with a hot story of a cherry-popping party:

This month’s raffles were awesome, with a treasure trove of goodies divided into two bags. There were hats, t-shirts, glass toys, vibrators, magazines… you name it, it was in there, and two lucky audience members went home with a bag of tricks.

We’re doing it all over again October 30^th, and the theme will be fears. Come along, and bring a friend! Leftover cupcakes make God cry.

August’s Tributes to Madonna Were Worthy of a (or the) Queen

One thing about doing these readings that provides endless amounts of entertainment for me is I never know what people are going to say. Sure, I give them the theme of the month and offer them the option of a read-through, but often times I have no idea what’s going to be presented until after I introduce people to the stage. Madonna night was a perfect example of this. Each reader’s interpretation of Madonna and sexuality went in an entirely different direction than the last. It was awesome. I can’t think of a better way for us to start at our new home with Hustler Hollywood.

Here’s the calm before the storm (you’ll notice the mini-cupcakes from Schmerty’s, which were almost completely gone by intermission):

This would be Adam, reading about how he learned to masturbate to Madonna’s videos. Miraculously he was capable of recalling the storyline and what she wore in nearly every video she did up until the Blonde Ambition era:

Joanna read about encountering Lourdes during the Reinvention Tour, which reminded her of being dumped in elementary school by a boy who didn’t like her unibrow:

At intermission, some of us paid homage to Madge’s infamous Sex book:

Ernest started the second half paying homage to Madonna’s contribution to kink (albeit somewhat grudgingly):

Maggie used her song titles for inspiration as she verbally walked us through her sexual evolution, while BatSheva took things deeper, recounting tales of innocent schoolgirl games and questionable sexual encounters that led up to learning how to orgasm, all while dreams of Madonna danced in her head:

Three awesome raffle bags were given out, featuring top-of-the-line sex toys, lube (naturally), and in honor of this month’s theme, copies of Madonna’s latest CD, Hard Candy. Needless to say, some of the winners were in for an interesting long weekend. (This is something we’ll be doing at every reading from here on in, just FYI.)

We’re going to do it all again on Thursday, September 25th. The line-up is coming, but this month’s theme – in honor of the Back to School season – is adolescence. I can’t wait to see what people come up with for this one…

June's "Confessions" Were Awesome!

June's "In The Flesh" was fabulous, thanks for asking! Great crowd, great readers... everything about the evening was wonderful. Some pictures from the event (an apologies in advance - I don't yet have a pro photog to cover ITF: L.A., so these are all courtesy of my digital camera, which doesn't always shoot well in night settings.)

Here's the stage and seating set-up. You wouldn't think this would be in the back of a cute sex shop, and yet...

Next up was Regina Lynn, who graciously brought free copies of her book "The Sexual Revolution 2.0" for everyone.

Next up was Rob Roberge. He read two pieces, the crowd favorite being his tale of why and how he got a cock ring. (Not for the faint of heart, but hilarious all the same.)

And last but not least, Eugene S. Robinson reading from his new book, "Fight."
